>>40413088Withholding data until release doesn't affect the "surprise" factor, unless you're a sheep who preorders games in the digital age.
Potentially protects people from accidentally getting spoiled, too, I suppose. When the game (or potentially a demo) comes out, it'll be scoured and anyone who wanted to see the Pokemon early /will/ look into it and see them early anyway.
Leaking just means we can make informed decisions about the game before it actually comes out.
What IF it turns out Game Freak was right and they're withholding fucktons of surprises and Pokemon? If it leaks early, there will be an unholy amount of "HOLY SHIT"s and preorders and GF can guffaw in all the money raining down from the sky.
Personally, the fact they're withholding so much and what little they HAVE revealed shows I wont care for the game, so I wont buy it, and I'm not going to buy my nephew and niece Pokemon for Christmas this year, and I'm more likely to get them some Paw Patrol toys or something instead.
That said, the possibility that the games are going to turn out incredible is still there, I just have no reason to have faith in it.
