>>40416759Uh, yes, they did, E3, they specifically said they had to cut large amounts of pokemon because they wanted to make new models and animations that made the remaining ones shine; then they walked that shit back in Masuda's address in the next few days when people began analyzing footage and proving the models and animations are the same as those from the 3DS.
The fact that you think they updated anything other than the textures is asinine and shows you have no idea how 3d modelling and animation works, they made a huge stink back in 2013 about how the models they made for X and Y were a colossal expense and that they justified it because the models were future-proofed, the models used for the 3DS games have a ridiculously high amount of tris in them, up to 5 times what a regular 3DS model should, that's what caused the heavy slowdown during battles.
Also, there's no such thing as making assets for 3DS or Switch, you make them in a computer and then put them into the software and the hardware does its best to read it (Again, models are so complex they break the 3DS processor), they obviosuly had the master files for all those models, textures and animations stored in a server and ready to go, they just couldn't be arsed to put them into the Switch game because they:
1. Just had to rush it out before the holidays.
2. Wasted large amounts of time and manpower developing that trash Little Town Hero.
3. And Ohmori said this himself in an interview a year ago, they know for a fact they can half-ass Pokemon and dumb fanboys will continue to buy it.
