Yeah, but something I've noticed is that male protagonists rarely have Pokemon that are effeminate or evolve into feminine forms, only exception I can recall is Brock with Happiny.

There's nothing feminine about Snivy. The whole line is based on French royalty.

Bayleef is the LEAST feminine-looking member of its line.

The only truly feminine Pokemon Ash has been allowed to have are Unfezant and Leavanny. And his Leavanny is actually male. Everything else is masculine or gender-neutral.

Marketing. A former storyboard artist said that the reason Dawn's Piplup never evolved is because Prinplup and Empoleon are too ugly for Contests.

It's purely because they think the evolutions aren't marketable, or the pre-evolution is already more popular than the evolutions.

Not yet but I would take this as a good sign it's in. Every other Pokemon here has been confirmed - Drifloon, Whimsicott, Sudowoodo, Gardevoir. And even notice how Morelull is here despite being a completely forgettable shitmon, but getting pushed hard in the livestream.

It's also notable that it's not Stantler despite Stantler being the traditional Christmas reindeer Pokemon, which I would say is a sign he's retired as well.

They've always done this for the starters. They've always designed each starter around a single personality trait.

For example, for Gen 5, Snivy was "cool", Tepig was "funny", and Oshawott was "serious".

You know what, I believe it. Maybe the evo’s femininity is subtle and it’s so androgynous it can be easily interpreted as a tomboy or a twink like Gou. If it was overtly feminine I’d think the Affleck leaker would note it but he didn’t.
