That's not exploration. There's nothing to explore because you can see everything. A big empty field is no more interesting than a hallway, except that it takes longer to reach the other side.
There needs to be caves with hidden path ways, rivers you can surf down to find new areas, stones to can break to find caverns, forests full of maze-like trees, ect
I just want to feel like I'm going on an adventure, and Gamefreak just can't seem to figure it out. They've missed the point completely.
