The Pokemon fanbase has a weird complex about >muh realistic graphics. Like, the idea of having anything look good is bad. There were some people on Twitter who were actually shitting on that Wild Area diorama for looking realistic, claiming that the actual game's stylised graphics are what looks good, when you can clearly see that it's a man-made model with an artistic style infinitely superior to the actual game's. Nobody complains when other games like Kirby or Yoshi use a cartoony artsyle, so it's not like everybody is demanding every game look hyper-realistic.
Are these people just genuinely so afraid of real life that they don't want to be reminded of it? That a game looking realistic will actually make them sad? It's fucking bizarre.
