Will probably be kept in stasis until 2021 or at least until Nintendo finally closes down 3DS internet services for good

All Pokemon not making it in Sword and Shield will forever be cucked in Pokemon Home or if you've hacked your 2DS/3DS be stuck in your PC as a Pkhex file

The worst part is if you're a Switch owner from 2018 onwards the chances of you hacking your Switch is close to zero. If you own the newest Switches you'd have to sit out this entire generation

I'm nervous, because I really like running through VC Gold version, transferring my team up to the bank afterwards, then restarting Gold for another run. The 3 perfect IV's, hidden ability, and nature manipulation is a cool benefit too. I hope there's some way to still do it with Pokemon Home, but I doubt there'll be support for what is now a 7+ year old console.

I don't think they'll be in a hurry, bank is expensive considering how little it actually does. I assume we'll know well in advance when they plan to shut it down. They can't really take it away after people have paid for it, so if you see it becoming free or switching to a shorter subscription model that would be cause for alarms.

Even if they did, the Switch softwaqre may detect that it shouldn't still be, and refuse to connect to it. So it'd have to be an exploit that works on both systems.

didn't work, and their hack checks are full of holes. i bet i could inject a shiny female starter from GSC or a ho-oh with the "from kanto in the good old days" flag straight into gen 7 and they'd get by with no issues whatsoever

All it seems to prevent are legitimate things from going through. I couldn't even transfer my Dizzy Punch Odd Egg shinies from VC Crystal, as it deemed Dizzy Punch an illegal move.

you can only transfer pokemon in the regional pokedex, you might as well catch them again since they're making breeding irrelevant

Previous gen tutors and exclusive moves are still a thing. Unless gen VIII releases every single possible past tutor and lost moves, be they level-up or things such as XD moves, then there will always be a niche for transfers.

The 3DS is extremely easily hackable, on every model and version, so that's not an issue. You have complete system control with CFW.
You'd probably need to patch each game for it to work.
Hell, the fucking Switch already has third party online, many pirates use it since Nintendo bans them.
