To those who buy both versions of the games: why? Are you able to provide reasons other than version exclusives?

I usually buy a version for me and my gf.
We're still on the fence with swsh obviously. I'll just wait and see if it looks fun enough to ignore the missing mons.

Exclusive gyms, clothing and Pokemon.
I play each Pokemon version at least 2 times doing nuzlockes and mono type challenges and what not so I'll get my moneys worth in terms of playtime.
I don't dislike trading or anything but I do prefer being able to capture everything on my own terms if I so wish so I simply like having all Pokemon available to myself.

Interesting reasons, I've never been big on the customisation parts of the games and didn't even know these were DLC options. The golden backpacks look pretty stupid though.

All these reasons fall under version exclusives. I understand where you're coming from but you're also buying two copies of the same game in order to fulfill maybe at maximum 10 differences. They are otherwise the same game, and you're paying $100+!

One is the one I use for my fun adventure and pvp/trading/whatever multiplayer. I store my good mons on there. I don't fuck with the save file. Usually I will rack up a good 200+ hours on there.

The other version is essentially the nuzlocke version I can replay and fuck around on. Then when I'm done I just move the best Pokemon over to the Adventure cartridge and restart again.

Also I can play as different genders on each one so I can try all the clothes

Versions exclusives would be it now, but in the past it was more importantly to have multiple save files because I never delete my first one for any game.

I did not want to share ruby with my annoying little brother so I brought sapphire for him. I let him have yellow and silver after ruby came out. By the time diamond came out he lost interest in pokemon. I also enjoyed black, Y and ultra moon to myself.

Too autistic to restart a main game file, so usually leave that to the 2nd version. Other than that, yes exclusive new 'mons (where applicable) and to finally have a trade partner for evolutions.

This is why I used to buy two versions. As a kid I'd replay Blue, and store my battle team and dex on Red. That kind of just stuck as the years went on. I also had a cousin that didn't play video games but she liked playing Pokemon with me so when I'd go to her house I'd use my sister's Fatboy to battle with her and play using teams I trained. With SS though having both is kind of pointless since the Switch has multiple profiles.
