Fucking christ, Unova and Sinnoh had cool mascot legendaries, because at least you couldn't really tell what animal they are at first glance.
Fucking mix it up. Make one a mix of other animals. Go the fucking Monster Hunter route and make the legendaries a mix of animals. Anything more than them just being technicolor beasts.
