Well, it's been pointed out that all the textures have been increased in resolution and sharpened for a projection screen Pokedex in one of the new Pokemon Centers, but when that was pointed out last time I looked, that "didn't count."

I doubt it. Changes like Minccino's eyes need to be communicated, which takes time, then they need to decide how the Pokemon needs to be stylized for the art style, THEN do all the manual drawing itself. Also they probably had to edit or redo the normal/shadow/light maps. And this is for hundreds of Pokemon + recoloring shinies.

This isn't even getting into the fact they had to add animations for old Pokemon in regards to Dynamax as well.

I'm not the one claiming textures aren't a part of models even though they factually are, which you could find out if you did any basic research or googling. It sure is weird how you have yet to provide any evidence to the contrary, huh? If I'm wrong, it should be easy to prove me wrong. But you can't, because you can't make any actual argument, because textures are a part of models.

desu they put a lot of effort into past games. The only thing they really skipped on was competitive, and pokemon was never really competitive officially until bw.

We went from them animating all the 2d sprites + creating new back view sprites for gen 5, to them creating brand new models and animations in gen 6 (at the cost of no post game in any of the gen 6 games, corners cut to say the least), to reusing the same exact models in gen 7 with nothing significantly improved to the game.. to reusing the same models and animations and not even reusing all of them in gen 8.

This is the only example you have ever given of them making any drastic changes to the textures. Doesn't change things drastically if they had to spend whooping 30 minutes on redrawing eye texture.

Everything requires redrawing because the linework requirements aren't the same. The 3DS had more obvious lines drawn on the models to make up for the screen's poor resolution. They need to redraw these to account for the game being HD now.

That's poor game design. Why should some Pokemon arbitrarily not be allowed to Dynamax when the mechanic is meant to be used for every Pokemon? It's a waste of development time and just causes pointless frustration for the player.

My guess is that they've understaffed themselves and only hire cheap temp programmers when they need to make a deadline. Thus they have no talent pool plus a rotating cast of programmers who are barely familiar with the game, and everything winds up taking too long for their release schedule. I don't know how entitled some people can be ITT. Asking for more Pokemon just because the models exist. You understand that would be possible for a big dev but not exactly for a small, almost indie studio like Game Freak, right? At least be glad that the time not porting Pokemon models is spent on other things such as polishing animations, coming up with innovative form changes for Kanto Pokemon and more post-game content.

"improving quality" and "adding mew features" my ass. Is as clear as the sun all of this is because of their greed.

Also lately they're trying to pander to the Go audience... Why? Because they saw how much GO earns and GF wants that too. Yearly relase also is a sign of their greed: earning every year what the would earn in 4, even if this means their game are rushed and so unfinished at release. But, who cares? Fans would buy anything with pokemon logo slapped on it anyway.

Pokemon games have no soul anymore because GF is focused on money.

Balance, ability, and move-pool adjustments are a part of the equation that grow more sensitive and overbearing generation to generation. If it were just a matter of importing the model, it'd still be more than just copy paste, but they've also swapped file formats between 3DS and Switch, meaning that there was either a problem with the new engine or they've built a new system for future use on the new hardware that may have required a fair bit of work in transition.

This has been typical in Japanese development up until the middle of last generation as a generalization. So many massive projects are started from scratch and there'd be no shared base engine.

Still, I'm fairly doubtful that the quote represents fundamental aspects of the games like the battle system or even project transitions like BW to BW 2, third versions, and the typical remake. It's likely more with regards to the side projects and a matter of generation to generation transitions.
