I can't tell if they'd really make a 3rd version considering they're on the Switch now. So either they fuck up more with minimal changes considering the bigger scope, or they just end up making Sword/Shield useless by comparison.
If it's really a policy change, so all Pokemon games are going to be cut on dex count, then they're not going to have the full Nat Dex anyway.

No as it’d prove they we’re only cut as a way to make more money selling it back to players who already paid. You know a practice started by another company. Let gullible brand whores buy it up, I’ll wait for the game where GF wouldn’t have the same excuse to cut them again.

I was going to buy SworShie before this fiasco, so yes. That's not happening, though. The moment where they cut Pokemon had to happen eventually, and it's really unfortunate that they conducted this in the worst way possible, with virtually nothing gained from it.

I mean they said that even having all Pokémon in Gen 7 was too much for them despite being the exact same as Gen 6, so they’re just either intentionally not putting all Pokémon in or just that incompetent. Potential Sinnoh remakes might even have the same graphics as SWSH but won’t even allow certain Pokémon from it

I’m not a graphic fag but SwSh look like they really didn’t give a fuck about small details that make the difference. lgpe were trash but at least it looked like they made some efforts with the water physics when a Pokemon’s swimming or how trees look like they actually are cohesive in style with the environment. If they change stuff like that and bring back the Pokedex with some nice post-endgame content, then yes i’ll buy the game.

Dude, they're not gonna do a singular third game again. Paired sequels gets them more money from people that obsessively buy both versions for whatever reason. So it'll be Super Sword and Super Shield or whatever.

Also, it likely isn't happening as they directly stated this will be how every game is from now on. Even if they hadn't said that, it'd be insanely unlikely from Game Freak, but there's a snowball's chance in hell they'll go back on it now.
