All of the people who care about Kantomons don't even play Pokemon anymore.

Most of the current audience didn't grow up with Kanto, except for Pikachu. Everyone who grew up with Pokemon grew up with Pikachu, regardless of what generation they started with, so he's fine. The rest are irrelevant to anyone who didn't start with Gen 1.

at this point, it's never going to happen. even poor sales would just be blamed on too much new content and not enough KANTOOOOOO. even when the '90s nostalgia fad inevitably comes to an end and normalfags lose interest in superficial reminders of their childhood, the habit of using kanto pandering as a crutch will be too deeply ingrained for game freak to stop.
