I feel like this was peak pikachu cuteness, somewhere between the two designs

fatchu is endearing for nostalgia reasons but looks kind of sloppy, and nuchu just looks like a mass marketable baby.

This is the best of both worlds, kind of like how Garfield's design peaked in the 80s
