>>40442416It's a video game from a franchise older than most of us on this board, that most of us grew up with.
It's not any different than with Star Wars AND Star Trek being total subjectively ass lately, or whatever.
Something we like is getting a new installment, we're promised the world and instead get a subjectively bad marketing campaign and half the reveals are just as bad. On top of this, for some reason, bafflingly, there's people who are actively saying they like everything being announced, can't go into detail WHY they like what they see and are promising that they are going to buy one, or both copies. When pressured about the details, the only response is either "new Pokemon", "I don't see anything wrong with it" or, probably the only valid reason, "I'm buying it for the online." I'm betting half the guys saying they're going to buy it are baiting, since it's such a sore issue right now and it's very tempting to kickstart some flamewars.
TL;DR: Group A thinks it looks bad, Group B appears to be buying/preordering it in droves, despite the marketing being intentionally vague as hell.
If GF sees high sales, then Group B is to be blamed when future games cater to them, and the Group A's 30 year long hobby would become unpalatable to them, so Group A is fighting for the survival of their hobby.
...despite it being too late, since the game's gone gold for months now, IIRC.
