Of course, the game never really lets you explore them in the main game, but in Postgame I actually had a blast doing stuff like surfing through the inner caves of Poni Meadows, finding Kala'e Bay's entrance, and getting all the TM's hidden in caves and the like
That doesn't excuse the utterly railroaded main game, but I think Alola had a lot more exploration than people give it credit for
