Head Cannon thread? I'll start Everyone always talks about Regions like they're countries, but the way I always saw it was really literal. They're just parts of a bigger country, they're literally a region. It explains why they're so small and easily traversable for a child, because it's only a region. Kanto and Johto are literally based on regions of Japan, Alola and Unova are based on single states of the US, Kalos was based off an entire country, but it was as large as the other region based regions, and Galar is also based off of an entire country, but it's only part of the United Kingdom. Do you think they're entire countries, or just regions in part of a bigger country? I can't possibly imagine countries that small.

It's a bipedal primate, intelligent, and its signature move is telling other Pokemon what to do.
Instruct is just a simpler form of the ability to command Pokemon that humans display.

In the real world, Pokemon do not say their names. They instead, make animal-like noises (e.g: Tauros moos and Herdier barks). The Pokemon anime is a cartoon in the Pokemon world that revolves around a fictional boy traveling the world with his Pikachu. The Pokemon in this series say their name to teach young trainers the species early on to help them identify each species. Level 1 in Pokemon is only reached once the Pokemon has entered adolescence. Until then, it is classified as a baby or infant and cannot legally or physically fight. Exceptions to this are baby Pokemon such as Pichu, Mime Jr. and Azurill who are strong enough upon birth to defend themselves. Technical Machines and Hidden Machines (TMs & HMs) created by Silph Co. are used by inserting the small disc into a slot on the Pokeball. This then teaches the desired Pokemon the move. That's all I got

>>40446462 I like the TM idea. Otherwise I have no fucking clue how a disk is supposed to teach them. When I was a kid I just assumed it was an instructional DVD or something you had to make your Pokemon watch

>>40446500 >When I was a kid I just assumed it was an instructional DVD or something you had to make your Pokemon watch I thought the same exact thing. Maybe the disks are edible and a pokemon eating one gets signal sent to their brain and they learn the move?
This only makes sense before Gen V since they're infinite now.

>>40446500 Since Pokemon get converted into data when in the Pokeball, maybe the disc reprograms their bodies so they can use moves they wouldn't normally be able to.
Like a Gyarados wouldn't usually have the fire breathing gland, but use a flamethrower TM and that gland gets added to its body.

A setup where you connect it to some kind of external drive and upload the TM data into it feels more realistic to me

There is a kind of electrical based unique identification tag that is set on a Pokemon that has been captured by a Pokeball. This prevents the Pokemon from being caught by other Pokeballs. The only way this identification tag can be bypassed is if the original Pokeball the Pokemon was caught in is destroyed, or if a Snag Machine is used on the Pokemon. The way a Snag Machine works is it corrupts a Pokeball and charges it with enough electrical energy that it completely breaks and nullifes the electrical identification tag of the original Pokeball.

Contrary to Team Plasma's philosophy, Pokemon fighting each other is the most natural thing Pokemon can do. (This is mentioned in the BW manga;tldr a trainer who released his Pokemon after falling for Team Plasma's teachings is shocked when he later encounters the Pokemon he released in the wild fighting other wild Pokemon at will). One of the reasons Pokemon naturally fight each other in the wild is because of the immense energy every single one of them has within them, they have to let it out. It's in their nature. In this perspective, humans orchestrating modern day Pokemon battles/competitions is actually a very humane way to let Pokemon unleash their energy in a safe environment (Pokemon Centers, healing tools) and grow into very strong and healthy creatures. Pokemon don't hold malice towards each other when they fight as battling is in their DNA and it is as basic and necessary to them as breathing and eating.

In Japanese they are literally chiho which means region, and in japan describes large sections of the sountry. I think they are supposed to be as large as a region of japan. However, unova is not based on New York this is a weird thing that I hear all over. There’s a lad Vegas city, Hollywood, clay looks like he’s from Texas, it’s clearly just based on the US as a whole. I guarantee there will never be another US region. But I think it’s supposed to be the size of a region even if it has parts from all of America

Dude, Hawaii is part of the US lol

>>40447482 You right my bad, but I think we can understand why there’s an exception for Hawaii. You have to understand the way it’s viewed in japan. Hawaii is a huge tourist destination for the Japanese and a ton of Japanese people live there. They usually don’t talk about visiting Hawaii as visiting the US. All of the non Japanese regions have been based on places that are popular with Japanese people and that kids would know, England France, the US. Anyway I think it’s safe to say alola is probably close to unova because Colress and grimseley make random appearances.

>>40447607 The only reason I don't think that is in gen 5, they had a world tournament, yet only notable figures from gen 1-5 showed up. While that's obviously "No shit retard" stuff, I think the implication that in a WORLD tournament, only 1 country is represented is a little silly.
