Like how Kanto was only added in Gen 2 because when Iwata came to help their shit was so bloated, that while they originally had trouble fitting just Johto on a GBC cartridge, he was able to get it down for extra content and an entirely new region. These games have laughably low budgets and pull ridiculous profits. They could of balled the fuck out on these games and still pulled in a ridiculously high profit margin.

There are actually a lot of unused animations for pokemon in gen 7, plus, adding a higher polygon count to models and re stretching textures, especially with damn near if not literally exactly the same models wouldn't take up THAT much more space than normal. And the only animations there'd be would be the Camp animations and Dynamaxxing animations. None of that would suddenly balloon to taking up THAT much space.

So let's start with storage as it is the easiest to source, >>40446743 does accuracy reflect the storage that the switch has, so there is that.
Then again, there is more to a system than just storage, RAM has to be taken into account. This shouldn't be a problem though as any system that can play The Witcher 3 has more than enough RAM to handle anything that SwSh throws at it, even with the extra pokemon.
So, maybe it is in reference to the CPU? Even that is bunk. The CPU on the switch isn't as powerful as some of the other consoles, granted. Even then though, it could handle something as gorgeous and as dynamic as BOTW. So anything that gamefreak could possibly throw at it, the CPU can handle it with ease.

Tl:dr They lied, and what is worse is they knew this was a lie back when the Switch was the NX.

They can but there are also smaller carts because 32GB ones tend to be the most expensive and development doesn't necessarily fill the entire cart.

Also I assume they try to keep the size as small if not as download friendly as possible.

Of that 13GB in Breath of the Wild, only like two are the actual game. The rest is all textures. Not even models, just the textures. Quality and amount of unique textures is literally the only thing that determines the filesize of a game these days (and occasionally music if a game has a LOT of it).

Not true, FMVs are by far the biggest space wasters out of any other type of data for a game. Granted though, games have less and less FMVs these days then they used to. Likely a combination of not needing them anymore since in-game graphics can look pretty good now..... and lazyness/cheapness as they are expensive and time consuming to make.

BOTW has a fair number of FMVs, all of the Memory flashbacks and a few other scenes are pre-rendered videos.

But I don't think any of the scenes in SwoShi so far are FMV since we can see pixely shit and since we can see the player character customized.

Well, I did forget one thing. One thing games used FMV for even today was to display many different in-game scenes without having to load them, especially if they need to display quick scenes of many different areas at once. Usually limited to intros or endings though. It's still cheap and easy to just simply record in-game footage, and then edit it together into one video of clips, especially since otherwise there would be no way the system could load all those different areas within seconds. The intro to Astral Chain is like this.

it really doesn't. I saw a slow motion capture of the early dynamax footage of arcanine growing bigger and it's a matte black textured arcanine standing statue still in the air. particles do a bwoop and it simply balloons in like two frames, stone stiff. happens a second time, and the third has it do a stutter from xy's landing-from-pokeball animation, one frame of statue arcanine, back to landing animation but slowed to make it feel bigger.

the unique animations other than "suddenly size=300%" or whatever are all particle effects and the trainer throwing the ball, not the pokemon growing.

https://youtu.be/Yei3hASt77Y even at 0:15, the pikachu after being thrown is already in gigantamax form just ballooning while statue floating. they don't even morph in the process, which should be simple enough to do when details are black with red outlines.

No, there isn't. USUM had a file size of 3.6GB and managed to fit on all Pokémon from gen1-7 and all alternate forms including megas/z-move stuff. Meanwhile, Sword and Shield are currently 3x the file size, with an extra 7x the file size unused, and can't fit in what already fit in a 3.6GB game, removing a ton of Pokémon and all megas/z-moves. Not to mention that they've come out and said that all the models in the game are just re-used anyway, so there's no reason why they wouldn't be able to fit since they'd be the same file size. Stop defending awful practice. They don't give a shit about these games anymore, all they care about is taking your money and releasing a game before Christmas. The sooner you realise that the better.
