>>40451058It did way more than just abuse flying moves, thanks to moves like taunt it could shutdown fatter mons thanks to its speed stat which is the only redeemable quality it has stat wise, wow to chip down and neuter shit like ferros and hippos, even toxic was a thing. Offensively it had options like sd, bulk up and natural gift, it might not sound like much but it certainly a lot more than what gen 6 brought to the table, between all the fucking megas just clicking their returns or hyper voices, or you if its mawile/medicham and your just clicking your strongest stab. Sure there was a lot more depth with mons in gens 3-4, but i still dont see how its justified to call talonflame a pokemon without any extensive utility.
Obviously talon isnt good without its ability and while it has options outside of flying moves, it certainly depends on them, but to see a pokemon like this, with such shit bst, worse offenses than amoonguss and worse bulk than regular sableye pull off to be one of the most predominant in OU and vgc 2016 is amazing, certainly having more to admire than the one dimensional megas spamming their overpowered moves or praying for smeargle to hit its dark void and having xern geomancing up.
