But the pokemon still exist and are canon. They just won't be transferrable to every game from now on. You can still get every type combo in Home if that quenches your autism

Not him, but my biggest typing gripes with Gen 1, in order, were:
1. Too many Rock/Ground
2. Too many Grass/Poison
3. Too many mono Fighting

I would concede that there are understandable reasons why pokemon might not be included, but pokemon existing *in lore does not in any way excuse their absence from a generation.

There's only 5 fully evolved ones to be fair and one is the dual type. The fact that no trainer uses a Poliwrath in gen 1, or even a Golem for that matter, is strange. The fact that all Rock types besides the fossils are Ground (the thing that made people think Rock was immune to Electric) is also baffling, especially as Aerodactyl is the only one seen, and only once, unless you pick it up yourself.

Anybody trying to project modern Pokemon gameplay balancing onto Gen 1 is literally retarded.

In Gen 1 some types were supposed to be objectively better than others. Some Pokemon were designed to only be trash for random encounters (Onix.) Some types were supposed to be rarer. It was just not the same type of game that it is today at all.

For point no.2 I'd say my problem is there's literally only one mono grass in gen 1, Tangela.
The Eggs line is part psychic, the Paras line is part bug, and everything else is part poison.
Erika's Tangela is most likely the only one you'll see in the game unless you surf back to that patch of grass behind Pallet Town.
