First is that very few brands(out of the hundreds of thousands) offer products that are actually useful or necessary (combs and other hair supplies, makeup for darker skin, clothes and goodstuffs to sate the differences in palettes.) Recently corporations have caught on to this and have manipulated their way into the black community, at this point they're inseparable.
Second: buying more brand name stuff makes them look more financially viable.
