I love this game, shills can say all they want but this is the perfect example of GF's incompetence. Just compare sword and shield to other games on switch and you'll see that it's objectively bad, at least on the technical and graphical side (render distance is a joke)

Why does it run so solid on Switch? Saber Interactive seem to be Panic Button-tier when it comes to porting shit.
Why does the game itself look so? Because CDProjekt RED have many more years working with home consoles than Game Freak (and Saber more experience porting games made for one system to another) so were able to compress TWH into a Switch game.
But then again, comparing TWH to a turn-based JRPG is disingenuous and I think we both know you knew that when you posted, didn't you.

Ikr, a turn based combat with a limited amount of entities on screen should have WAY less problems while running than an active combat rpg with realistic graphics. It's just wrong. I wish they hired more people or just worked with other teams, because who gives a shit about the designs, the programming here is so crappy it seems an amateur's work

And was the product of many years working with home consoles anon. They had the experience by the time they started TW3 to be able to produce it, what came before helped shape them by being turkey shoots. Same deal here, it looks like an upgraded 3Ds game, because it functionally is, until Game Freak learn what they are capable of doing with the Switch (similar to how Gen II, V and VII all improved on the games that game before on the same hardware in looks and in how they ran).

Game Freak literally does not know what a LOD is. They tried to make a huge open world area without using LOD at all, on a power limited system, so they had to make it look like a barren N64 game to get it to even run at above 15 FPS, and still many assets have to be teleported into view instead of slowly loaded in lower LOD form. It's fucking hilarious and sad at the same time.
Developing an open world game on the Switch requires extensive experience with asset streaming, Game Freak is basically an amateur indie studio in terms of technical competence.

Theres your answer. Other considerations, Witcher III is fully voice acted, has a more extensive soundtrack, and includes the expansions, not just the base game. That last point alone should be reason enough not to compare them.

Further bonus points if you can't delete these files, either because they are baked into some huge pack file or because the game refuses to load if it's missing files.

Not only does it drop way down to ~540p, but it still drops below 30FPS to around 20FPS while it's doing so
I posted a "16 minute video" because it shows more than just "my point" and is an extensive breakdown of how Witcher 3 runs on the Switch

This is why some people actually buy a game and then pirate a repack
Repacks will often have the option to only download and install one language even in these situations, and it's a godsend

The Witcher runs in 720p while docked (540 undocked lol)
Sword and Shield runs in 1080p while docked

That's a big difference and in no way the same resolution, anon

You're a retard, witcher 3 IS their first main console game, 2 even though interface and controls were designed with a controller in mind it was a PC exclusive first than was later ported to Xbox, and they went from a small linear game designed for just 2 systems to a full blown open world multiplat in just the span of one game
This is essentially Gamefreak's third title (i'm also counting Town) on the Switch and it still looks like a 3DS game in HD with only the small enough amount of effort to hide by upgrading some textures here in there and the lighting

Going from PC to Console is not a change you retard. It's not the same leap as moving from handheld to console. Also The Witcher 3's Switch port looks like absolute dogshit compared to every other version of the game. it's beyond hideous.

Also SS was in development before both Town, and LGPE and the teams for all three games were different. SS looks like shit but don't be a fucking retard at least make proper complaints.

Really though I want to clarify I don't care if people even complain about SS but this game looks and runs like absolute shit on the Switch. The textures are ugly, the motion blurr is jarring and bad, it looks worst docked than Xenoblade 2 looks in handheld, and most of all it's all around uglier than the PS4 version which was already itself a downgrade compared to PC. I don't care if SS looks like shit (it does) but stop saying it looks good.

I'll cop to not knowing that, thought it was a two-fer they'd always been at (coding for latest home console/PC specs simultaneously) but that just goes to prove they're MORE than capable of getting something like TW3 ready to be ported to Switch, it was the same with DOOM and id. Pokemon's standards were never this bad relative to the console besides gen 3. Every other gen ranged from mediocre to decent. These are just plain embarrassing for switch games and this is the gen they decided to cut mons ontop of that, meaning they have even less of an excuse for things looking this bad.
