Why does it seem like Pokémon fans have never played another game before? The fact normal RPG mechanics and standards are alien to them makes me question my own sanity. Two versions of a game aren’t normal. It’s always quantity over quality but the quantity is dipping yet most just accept it. Why?

I mean considering the trading gimmick it made sense for Pokemon to have two versions when it first released. Other RPGs have copied it over time anyway, like the Megaman Battle Network series.

That's pretty much how I am, Pokemon's the only RPG I've played outside of the Mario ones at least.
I dunno, I just like catching colorful mons and I really like a lot of the designs.
It's like, once I had Pokemon I didn't feel the need to try out many other RPGs.
Pokemon's always given me what I wanted.
Although gen 7 kinda left a bad taste in my mouth with Lillie's Family Drama Hour featuring Malasada Boy.

I did try out the Yokai Watch games though, and I find them pretty fun.

People reacted the way they did to that because the games weren't rebalanced to compensate for that change, and also made it less convenient to just raise one Pokémon up without also levelling up the rest of your party.

Because if they played other good RPGs they probably would be Pokemon fans anymore. Also Pokemon is baby's first RPG for a lot of people an anything more complex is considered bad. Which is sad since Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger the other baby RPGs are amazing games but newcomers are always pointed towards Pokemon.

Why do people who have only ever spent lots of time playing other games act like they understand the appeal of Pokémon? It’s like they think they can pretend to know what soul is but only ever expect the dull, minimum excitement of other series that have little to do with monster collection, nostalgia, fun, or exploration.
