Would you forgive the dex cut if they released another Stadium/Battle Revolution style game that you could use all of the Pokemon in?
There wouldn't be any meaningful single-player content, it would all be focused around actual high quality looking battles, local and online. They could bring back cut battle modes like Megas, Z-Moves, Triples and Rotations as well.
As a bonus, because it doesn't have any story or lore-building, TPC could just outsource it to some other company and GameFreak wouldn't have to take any time away from developing their next game.
