To dumb down the game for retards basically.

Doubles is very clearly the better format for competitive play, but they can't make the whole game like that because they want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible, and single battles are the simplest battle format available.

Doubles is more marketable

Kids don't want to watch the world champs and see 100 turns of autists switching between Landorus, Heatran, Ferrothorn, Tyranitar, Tornadus etc. to meticulously accumulate chip damage to win.

With doubles you see big plays that hit hard and fast and the game ends in less than 10 turns.

More like top VGC players wouldn't play singles because they are too used to their warped format
Why would the alleged most competitive players in the world only use 4 pokemon per battle? They can certainly handle a full team right?

There is a ranked ladder for both singles and doubles, unless you mean VGC/actual tournaments.

Doubles has always been 4v4, Singles has always been 3v3. I don't see them changing this, so a Singles VGC would 100% be 3v3.
I don't know about you but Doubles is way more exciting to watch than that.
