I use the name of a self-insert/oc. Back when we were kids my friends insisted I had to make up a character for when we played pretend instead of just being myself or an existing character in whatever fictional world we were larping that day, and we did that long before I had a gameboy so by time I got to play the games myself I just already associated that name with me as a trainer. And by time I was old enough to feel silly doing that I basically had nobody to play pokemon with besides my sister who already knew why I used that and later random strangers online who's thoughts on the name don't matter, plus all my pokemon's ots had that name so I keep using it.
