>>40487787They do see money from all the non-game merch. Not as much as the games, but they still see it and all the non-game merch spins out of the games so of course you're feeding the beast. And your second point is even more retarded since Pokemon is easily one of the most mass-marketed and heavily advertised franchises of all time right up there with Star Wars. This is the series that splits a single game into two versions just so they can bleed more sales out of each title. Gamefreak lies to it's user base, they push heavy marketing on kids and design tactics like forcing kids to preorder movie tickets or plan out extra toys and games that rely on owning other toys and games to function. Sometimes the toy doesn't even work with the game properly at all like the Pokeball Plus and Sword and Shield. They plan for shit like Home that'll lock kids into subscription fees to keep their Pokemon. Everything I listed relates to the games they make, actions they've taken, and they use this stuff to bleed their user base dry and push sales in other aspects of the franchise. For someone with ideals that you're spouting they're a terrible company that you should never support. Nintendo is just as bad. They don't lower their games like other companies, their IPs are designed to hook children in the long term, their consoles are under powered, outdated, and rely on cheap gimmicks to sell. They publish mobage titles like Mario Kart and Mario Run that are absolutely anti-consumer.
I just hate people like you so fucking much. If you want to have ideals you should actually commit to them. You can't say "I'm not a blind consumer" and then turn around and buy a Nintendo console and a low effort toy commercial game like Pokemon that was highly controversial for pushing all those things you hate onto kids in the 90s and think that it's somehow a reasonable choice. It's all or nothing. That's how true ideals work.
