Please can somebody explain why is it flying and not ground or something. I like this pokemon but I hate the retarded typing, just because it's a bird doesn't mean it should be fucking flying type.

During development Flying type was called Bird type. When they changed to Flying they just never bothered taking it away from Dodrio.

Flying type doesn't always mean it literally flies, just like not all Dragon types are literal Dragons or all Fairy types are literal Fairies. But Dodrio learns Fly so... yeah.

Because originally it was bird type like all the birds , but then Gamefreak said fuck it and changed them all to normal/flying and dumped it on the missingno slots.

It's pretty clear that all Normal/Flying Pokemon were originally Bird/Flying (as opposed to say, Bug/Flying); which means Doduo/Dodrio would have originally also been Bird/Flying, meaning they were both intended to be Flying types from the beginning.
