The characters are all dumb and underdeveloped, the only one who might be remotely called "developed" is Cynthia and, seriously, this is a stretch
The battle frontier is a shitty idea. In a game all about the journey, putting a whole facility about lack of progress is useless.
The game is still slow as fuck, (yes, surf speed is slightly higher but every other fuckin thing takes forever), three HM slaves are still needed, more than half the field techniques are still unnecessary and four routes are all about slowing you down.
You can bitch all you want and say that what matter to you is using the same level 100 Pokémons you used for years and in that regard, the lack of gain of any sort in the frontier is nothing but, why are you separating Pokémon and trainers ?
The fun is in the journey, once progress is no longer possible, it's time to train something else, that's what all complaints for a frontier miss.
