At this point I really only play the fan made games like reborn/ rejuvenation, insurgence, and the other good ones. Much more replayable, have online, have all the pokemon, more player friendly ways to breed and create a strong team, etc. gamefreak has lost their hold on me. I love my switch for a lot of games but the dual screen feature in pokemon was killer and its just never gonna be as good on the switch playing pokemon.

Masuda has never said that there's a particular plan for any unconfirmed game (mainly remakes, because new generations are a given). I think that this quote is being blown out of proportion, especially as he expresses interest in the idea. Just two years ago Ohmori (in a Game Informer interview) was trying to shoot down speculation about SM foreshadowing a return to Kanto. Even if he was telling the truth, LGPE were already in development at that point.
