Both gen 1 and 2 had DVs. Which are basically the same thing as IVs. A mewtwo with max DVs is better than a mewtwo with weaker DVs.

I remember powering through Brock with my Charmander.
That built character. Kids these days don't know that kind of struggle.
They have it to easy with z moves and mega evolutions and new fangled abilities and such

I thought so until I replayed Yellow.
Even underleveled, the only threatening things were random Kadabras with Psychic. Everything has shitty movepools, or shitty pokemon (Machoke in Victory Road).
I had a harder time in Moon.
