For example, I only really care about Pokemon designs, region comfiness, and a decent amount of features (not necessarily specific ones like a battle tower).

Favorite regions are:

1. Hoenn
2. Kalos
3. Sinnoh

They were the first 3 regions I explored and my nostalgia compels me to say they're the best.

I'll only go into a good region because a good game takes way too long and 2000 character limit.

Not a theme park region, environments should flow naturally and not require some New Super Mario Bros. world themes just to have all the Pokemon for that region, also the region itself shouldn't be an entire country (or US State) unless it's something tiny like the Vatican or Liechtenstein, it takes away any potential interesting locations and solely has to to focus on the big cities and a very generalized variant of the area between locations. A region should in-game also be quite large, at least 20+ Routes (preferably 25+) with no less than 13 Cities/Towns, add in at least one or two dungeons between each Gym City and several completely off the beaten path dungeons, this stuff isn't as important as the first things I was mentioning but does tend to help give more breathing room for Regions.

Region
>Just being big enough, having non-random encounters is nice too (shaking grass, dexnav, etc)

Good monster design is crucial
The story doesn't have to be a Coppola script but on the very least be mildly interesting
Diverse areas
Good pokemon accessibility or at least a good amount of new Pokemon, none of that "Waiting until the post-game to get a Houndour" bullshit

What I want out of a good region is having a lot to see and do throughout the region, whether that be a Battle Frontier that will add over a hundred hours to my play time or side missions with well thought-out storytelling and lore. I also think its important to establish a good atmosphere for the game, with likable characters, story, music and pokemon. I believe a good balance of region diversity is also a huge aspect in developing a good atmosphere. Specifically, I don't like regions where most of the towns and routes feel the same (Kanto and Alola are good examples of this), but I would also want a region to be laid out in a way that makes sense (don't go crazy like Kalos did with its biomes).
