>>40514734If you read my post I outright stated that it's because those generations mix old and new so the reuse of concepts isn't off putting. Unova wanted to be a fresh of breath air by only being new and instead they looked to older Pokemon for half the de and copied them. And those new Pokemon are just there to play the same role as old Pokemon rather than stand as unique parts of the world. Machoke is gone so they need a Pokemon that helps with construction, Grimer's gone so they need a trash Pokemon, Gardevoir isn't around so you get a dark type copy to appeal to girls, no Chansey so you need a new pink cute nurse Pokemon, new dream tapir, new waifubait flower. It makes things feel like a waste.
There are great Unova Pokemon like the Drillbur line, Sandile, Golurk, and more that do manage to be unique and those are the ones the entire dex should have strive to be like.
Woobat to me is an issue because when confronted with a cave setting Gamefreak said "Zubat's gone, make a new bat" instead of saying "What cool animals live in caves? A black bear maybe? Or a cave dwelling insect?" They dropped the ball.
