It think Steelix is kinda neat, but fuck Scizor. Scizor is a terrible way to expand on Scyther and doesn't build on any of it's themes.

Honestly Scyther's a pretty decent pokemon on its own with it being pretty fast and strong.
It just has bug/flying which is shit.
On the other hand, Onix just has high defense and absolutely nothing else going for it.
Even its evolution Steelix just has REALLY high defense, meh attack, and absolutely nothing else going for it.

charmanders high special allows ember to cook onix relatively quickly; all three of the starters wipe the floor with it, its just that charmander can't ohko it
all they had to do was give onix a gimped moveset of just tackle/bide/leer and then they would be able to comfortably raise the stats up.
Remember that starmie is the second boss and has one of the highest BSTs of any kanto gym ace

Since Scyther only gets Speed subtracted and added to attack and defense, with the same stat total, it should be the same for Onix. Here's Onix's new stats bros:
HP: 75
Attack: 65
Defense: 160
Sp. Attack: 55
Sp. Defense: 65
Speed: 90
Give him Head Smash for Rock Head, and give him Coil and Glare since he's a snake.
BOOM fixed.

its a semibulky pivot that loses half of its health every time it pivots as long as rawks are up, of course its going to not be popular
it would be quite decent in a metagame with no SR, 105 is a nice speed tier, and has p[lenty of bulk to switch into grasses. a strong stab u-turn becomes a powerful option select, either they stay in and take heavy damage, or they go into a non-steel and lose momentum, or they go into a steel and it can potentially be trapped
