I hate that every generation makes it easier to obtain good or rare Pokémon.
Breeding and shiny hunting was fine in Gen 4 and didn't need more changes to make it less time-consuming.

Disagree. I think where it is now with getting competitive Pokemon is fine. Still requires a bit of effort, but not much. Enough to make you feel like you're doing something, but not so much it's tedious. Gen 8's "Btw u dont have to do anything here have all these egg moves lol" takes away an entire gameplay mechanic.

Gamefreak can't just pretend hacked pokemon don't exist. Either they make it easy to obtain good pokemon to compete with how easy it is to hack them, or they code the game good enough AND make Nintendo do their console good enough that the new games don't have hacked pokemon.

True, but the point I was making was if you were GameFreak how would you think about combatting this issue? Warning players about the reprecussions of injecting obviously isn't gonna stop them and a wave of mass banning is gonna kill the scene because ALOT of top players hack. The only other thing they could really do is make the systems in game to produce competitive Pokemon faster and less tedious.

Fuck that. Hatching dozens of fucking eggs to get a Pokemon with perfect IVs and natures is cancer, it's even more cancerous when the Pokemon you are working for has multiple abilities and the perfect IV pokemon that gets hatched has one that isn't viable. Not to mention the mons that you got up to then clutter the fuck out of your PC box.

If there is anything I'm fine with GameFreak making more casual it's the grind to get a Pokemon with good IVs.

As for shinies, I don't give a shit. They're recolors, Gamefreak could make shiny hunting autists happy by keeping these systems that make finding shinies easier in place, but make it so Pokemon now have two shiny forms, with the second form being even harder to find and would have a flat 1/8192 encounter rate.

Making Pokemon faster to get doesn't stop hackers at all, that was an argument back in gen 4 and 5, and 6 made it extremely easier to get competitive Pokemon, and guess what? Hacking massively increased.
They keep making it easier, and yet hacking gets more and more popular. These faggots will cheat no matter what.

It's a good thing you can get your entire Switch system banned from all online functionality if you get caught with CFW. It's going to be glorious to watch.

So in other words, have fun playing the game?

I don't inject. But I have never once created a full team of 6 competitive pokemon on any single cartridge. I created two on Sun for the battle tower, using the most logical methods, and it took weeks. The process is so tedious and repetitive that I am always burned out before I ever bother making one team of six of competitive Pokemon. In a game that is about trying out literally hundreds of Pokemon, many of which can be used and trained in different ways themselves, the current system is so much of a goddamn slog that I have never even had one team. Fuck off, this is why injecting is the reasonable option as of now.

The core of it is acquiring and raising Pokemon. No matter what form this takes, you cannot have it in a way that it doesn't take some amount of time and effort, because it's an RPG and this genre rewards time and effort.

But collecting and raising the Pokemon is the fun part, actually using them against other players is a complete waste of time. There's no number that goes up, or achievement stamp to earn, or feature that gets unlocked. Progress is completely involved in PvP.

What about players that enjoy planning out movesets and stat spreads and abilities, catching the Pokemon, leveling them up by battling trainers ingame, and who want to test out said Pokemon and different strategies online without spending over a month flicking the directional pad left and right biking just to try out one team? The issue is hacking being rampant in the game. Game Freak's design successes or failures are not really relevant beyond a sad attempt from hackers to use them as an excuse for their behavior, when that excuse has been proven to be false over and over again (the easier it gets to have good Pokemon, the more hacking gets common).
No matter what GF changes about the gameplay loop, hackers will hack as long as they can get away with it.

The game is designed like that, you raise Pokemon and take them into battle.
Tournaments are no different, hence why they don't have team builders or anything like that, you are expected to bring your own Pokemon.

That competitive Pokémon are made more accessible means that more people could actually get into virgin sea or other tournaments and focus on the much more fun aprt of this whole ordeal, actually battling and using thoughtout strategy which still acts as some sort of pleb filter. Every idiot can now breed a perfect 6*31 IV Stantler, but actually successfully using it is another thing.
In terms of shiny hunting, although they decreased the odds to 1/4096, it's still pretty low. I'm autistic enough to have hunted shiny pokeymans since Platinum, and I still hunt most Pokémon in Gen 4 (currently doing a SBQ in SoulSilver, wish me luck to finally get that stupid Abra). But if I want to get a quick hunt done, I'll just DexNav something. I think Gen 6 was pretty comfy in terms of QoL improvements in shiny hunting, so I'd also disagree there and I'm actually quite content that there more methods to acquire the rare Pokémon without actually devaluing them (although I personally don't count Shiny Fishing and the Wormhole Shinies as these methods were clearly too simple and easy to get shinies with).

Tl;dr: The peak was Gen 6 in both shiny hunting and breeding. Not too easy, but also not too unnecessarily hard.
