I want to buy a new game for my Switch for Halloween.
I really love 1st Gen games, but I'm wary of the Let's Go games because I've heard it's missing a lot of features.
I don't mind playing a simpler game for a fun gaming munch, but is it more than that? Is it terrible?

Even then. It's easier I'd still rather play the originals for free on emulator or even virtual console on 3DS. I don't recommend the game at all.

Check your local library, you never know what you might find. I found it and beat it in four days, so if you REALLY feel like you could play it for much more than that, buy it used

Ignore Let's Go Pikachu. You should get Let's Go Eevee and get a female Eevee partner instead. Meltan, Melmetal, and female Eevee (whose new redesign debuted in Let's Go) are the only new pokemon models you couldn't get in USUM. If you're thinking about playing as Pikachu or male Eevee, don't. There are already better games that let you do that (Pokemon Yellow, Colosseum, XD, etc). Even female Pikachu (with the heart shape tail) was playable in Pokken. I personally picked female Eevee because it was the only new starter design in an another mediocre remake.

Yellow actually has Game Corner and Pikachu Surf minigames, so you technically get more content in Yellow than with LGPE

nah if you grew up with RBY being your first game you will definitely enjoy it. Its very comfy, musics great, and loads better then the GBAs.

It's definitely not worth the price tag at 60$, but it was ok I guess for a single play through. It's very dumbed down, and in a lot of places, stripped bare. I was extremely disappointed to get to the Safari zone area and realize that it was just gone. So is the casino. If you're looking for an upgraded version of the original, I'm sorry to say this ain't it.

It's a nostalgic romp with any and all semblance of challenge or remotely adult theming removed. It'd honestly be a passable $30 experience if the controls weren't so goddamn awful. It's borderline unplayable without the Pokéball Plus, which on its own is NOT worth $50 by any stretch.

Get Fire Emblem, or Mario Odyssey, or Luigi's Mansion, or Smash. Forget Let's Go even exists.

If you don't mind simplicity, then the game is for you. Just don't spend over $40 on it, and actually pay attention to the catching tutorial.

The lack of a Safari Zone is annoying, but the distribution is more varied thanks to that.

Don't spend full price, but I would suggest something else. New copies of Katamari Damacy and Darkest Dungeons (with all DLC) are great games that are 30% cheaper than full priced remakes like Let's Go and Links Awakening.

Let's Go was ridiculously fun and nostalgic. Probably my favorite way to play Gen I now.

I mean, I think your experience will vary. I stopped playing after Misty because Pokemon just kept running before the first ball throw, but other people I've spoken with who played the game insist that doesn't happen but they play in handheld mode.

It's about 30-40 something on Amazon, and for that price, it's pretty damned good
It's a fun little detour, don't think about the franchise as a whole, that game gives no shits about gens other than 1/7 (Mina and Alola forms)
Game has a portable PC, If you want a challenge just have a caterpie or something and put it alone in the party when you wanna catch stuff so your main party doesn't over level (also, with a high level mon you don't use, you can fulfill Sabrina's gyn requirement without over leveling your party
Since there's no wild battles and Trainers don't give that much EXP the game's as hard as you wanna make it (Just don't give Eevee it's new moves, it'll steamroll the game)
It's a nice little nostalgia trip, but doesn't revolutionize the franchise at all (then again neither does sword and shield for some people)
The game is for comfy feels, pretty much
