In my defense, gen I is filled with Grass/Poison and Rock/Ground. The ones that aren't Grass/Poison or Rock/Ground are very uncommon.

I thought that grass and flying where lesser/ weaker types in gen 1. I figured that since psychic and dragon was so good there must be a weak types.

Up until a few months ago I was dead convinced that Poison was a Special type in gen 1, and switched to Physical for gens 2-3. I have no idea where I would've gotten such a distinct misconception from. The closest thing I can come up with is that they changed Poison from being both super effective and weak against Bug after gen 1, but it's not like I wasn't also simultaneously aware of that. I wonder if it's just some weird misinfo I read on the early Internet or some shitty guide book that stuck with me, or if it's truly my brain making shit up.

No, it shouldn't. Things IN water die when you put poison in it, but water itself cannot be poisoned or not poisoned because it's not fucking alive and literal water is the theme of water as a type.

Literally everything should be weak to Poison because they're living beings if that's the way you're going to play it but that how absolutely zero games do types because it would be stupid. Types always have a theme and Pokémon is far more complex than most at deciding what types do what to each other.
