There are psychic pokemon that can open portals and some psychic moves related to time travel. Celebi being part psychic do make sense.
While I thought it was weird for unicorn to not be fairy, its new ability and the fact psychic is super effective against poison might explain its type. I'm affording to bet that once Galarian Ponyta evolve, it will look like a proper psychic pokemon.

Magical and most celestial beeings are always psychic. Exception is everything that comes from the moon that is fairy. Strange why nido line isn‘t fairy, they are basically the moon rabbit line

They're givers of life and sentience, of course they're fucking Psychic, something typically associated with greater intelligence and sentience.

They're also tied to the gods, which fairies typically aren't. They're mystical but not necessarily related to creator gods.
