Because that's how Gamefreak rolls now, didn't you play XY and SM?
SM had malasadas, SWSH will have curry. Gen 9 will add another worthless gimmick into the game just so they can give some """personality""" to the game's new region because they forgot how to add actual S O U L into their games.

Pokemon regions heavily inspired by real life places were just a fucking mistake. I don't get any japanese vibes whenever I play a Kanto game (a literal location in Japan), why the fuck do I need to be reminded that I'm in fucking UK when I'm play SWSH? It doesn't even feel like a pokemon world anymore

That's not really the case, the "example" in this comparison is actually the NatDex. The comparison is mockery of the Curry feature, as it's a fucking shit feature and they could have spent their time doing literally anything else. NatDex is just the most prominent example of something that isn't in the game while fucking curry is.

I would unironically like more pokemon regions based on real world places. It's just that GF chooses the mainstream popular places like France and UK when some less mainstream places like Argentina would make better regions
