I did, actually. I was doing a mono Bug run and Pinsir was bordering on deadweight. The hardest gym in the game, the ghost gym, was fucking impossible for this retard to contribute in.

Heracross gets a progressively better set over the gens. Learns Brick Break, a decent-powered Fighting-type move, level-up starting in Gen 3. In Gen 4, it gets Close Combat, one of the best Fighting-type moves, plus Aerial Ace and Night Slash (latter through Heart Scale). In Gen VI, it gets Arm Thrust (heart scale), Bullet Seed (heart scale) and Pin Missile, all of which are good for its Mega Evolution, and two of those are STAB.

I can't believe g still won't give it u-turn because God forbid it doesn't run mega horn. It would be a legitimate scarf option with the addition of one stab move. And it doesn't break it. Even if it were to break into ou, it won't be broken.

Why? The only bugs worth using in gens 1 to 3 are Heracross, Scizor and maybe Forretress, and they need a lot of TMs.
Bug was the worst type until gen 4.

Butterfree was actually clutch. It was the only think capable of dealing with Ghosts with Confusion. Pretty fun run. Too many same physical attackers though.

Both butterfree and scyther got a boost from their abilities im gen 3. Compoundeyes gave butterfree almost perfectly accurate powder moves, while technician is technician, and was especially good at making the limited movepools of gen 2/3 do work.

Actually doing a mono bug run in SS right now and it's more annoying then I thought it would be. Only my parasect has a stab move, and that's leech life. Decided to not use heracross or scizor, game would feel too easy that way.
