I enjoy them. Gets kind of grindy in the post game but if you have time to kill and just feel like turning your brain off MD is a good choice.

Start with Rescue Team. People will tell you that Explorers of Sky is the only good game, don't believe them. They're the same sort of people who think that Platinum and HGSS are the only good mainline games.

Blue Mystery Dungeon, and Explorers of Time I played and enjoyed. Red Mystery Dungeon is good if you want to emulate it and don't want to deal with the DS' second screen.

Red/Blue Rescue Team are easy to emulate and contain the quintessential experience imo
Explorers of Time/Darkness are alright too.
I'd reccomend avoiding Super until you're familiar with the series because it's kind of boring by comparison.
And avoid Gates at all costs Mind you, I never actually played it but literally every person I know who has, says it was miserable

explorers is generally agreed upon as the overall best, but you should start with rescue team.
After that play Explorers of Sky, since it's basically the third version that adds a bunch of shit ala Emerald/Platinum

Gates is a bit of a mess but Super is pretty good
