Officially, Caitlin's the Brain and Darach is the stand-in. She still does the management as she's the one instructing Darach at all times on how to treat and reward the challenger with Castle Points.
She was also a trainer during Platinum/HGSS too, she was just TOO powerful, to the point that she would destroy everything when she battled, so she refrained from battling during the Frontier challenges in the castle

Gen 5 is pretty popular with Japan. Though if they really wanted to save the game they would have had an alt-costume character for Halloween or dropped May, Dawn, or Serena.

She originated in Platinum/Sinnoh but for what Masters is asking they want her Unova self and consider that the main Caitlin. It's more fitting anyways since it's the most up to date version of her.

Gen 5 simply has more fan-favorite human characters than any other gen, aside from Gen 1. Both of the male and female Valentine winners of recent memory are Gen 5 characters (Elesa and N). Pic related are Jap's top 10 favorite Unova characters, so expect all of them to added to Masters sometime soon.
