>>40576361No, you don't. You always have a chance to get a disc of a monster when you defeat it, using a high speed memory increases that chance. You can use up to five high speed memories on a monster and after the fifth you get the maximum chance to store their data. Really late in the game you can find a secret area and do an optional side quest to get a maximum memory thing that is five high speed memories all in one shot with one use, but, that's very far in the game and hard to find.
The game is so niche there's no wikis or anything, you can't look anything up so good luck, I find new stuff every day so far and like I said. I'm about 40 hours in.

And yes, there's actually a battle frontier later.
