The reason people toss the year at the end of reused titles like that is to make it clear to everyone what they're talking about. Back in the 90s, nobody called the first Halloween movie just "Halloween", it was always "Halloween 1" to make it clear exactly which movie they were talking about, but that didn't meant why suddenly started calling the 2007 movie just "Halloween" because "well we call the first one Halloween 1, so this one can be just Halloween". The entire point is to use a name that makes it clear exactly what you're referring to, and just "PM" or "Pocket Monsters" does in no way make it clear you only mean the 2019 series.
