People want a game with a lot of content. SM revealed as much as Gen5 but that ended up being 90% of the game's content. Now people are rightfully questioning who much content SWSH will have, they want to see if there's more content and seeing less stuff doesn't help.

personally I like how they did it, since it's infinitely better than SM reveal days, which is one of the reasons why I don't like SM.

There's a middle ground. Gen 7 showed too much so there was nothing to really experience for yourself when you played the game. Gen 8 has showed too little so it seems like there won't be much to experience yourself when you play the game. Ideally they would have shown enough to generate interest and hype around the game but still leave us wanting more and have at least 50% of the new pokemon in the game etc a mystery

They've had a bad track record over the last few years and every announcement they've made this year has been marred with either bad news, info mistranslated or just baffling marketing decisions.
2019 has been the year of "we've fucked up but you are gonna give us money anyway" for gaming, so good for gamefreak I guess.

People weren't mad about the actual amount that was revealed, they were mad that what was revealed was most of what was in the game at all.
If Gen 6 and 7 had the exact same hype seasons with the same reveals but 100-150 Pokémon each in the final game then people wouldn't have been anywhere near as annoyed.

When I'm seasoning my pulled pork and it's still too bland, I don't dump a fucking bucket of cayenne into it. I adjust little by little till the taste is just right.

Gamefreak fucks up one way, goes too hard the other, and then just goes OH WERR I GUESSO IT NO WORKU and just throw the entire thing out and make a fucking bowl of cornflakes instead. But at first they don't put enough milk in, so they uphend an entire carton of milk into it so the bowl is overflowing. Realizing it doesn't work they make mac and cheese. But at first there isn't enough cheese, so they go to the store and buy all the cheese they possibly can...

You pretty much have two extremes, people who are bound determined on liking anything and everything revealed, and who will shit on people who don't, and people who wsnt to hate Gamefreak no matter what and will spreads lies and misinformstion to do so, and will call others who don't shills or apologist, trying to discredit their opinions. There's very few people who aren't on either extreme right now
