Why does everyone say Unova is based on New York. It is clearly based on all of the continental US. It has hollywood, las vegas, desert, a cowboy gym leader, etc.

Hoenn is supposed to be Japanese, yet it has a desert too. At least America DOES have deserts.

The shape of the region and Castelia City are based on New York. The rest is based mostly on America as a whole, with a few things based on completely unrelated stuff (like the Abundant Shrine being obviously Japanese, or Village Bridge being based on Ponte Vecchio).
