>>40603324>Gamefreak will never be able to make a game hard enough for that player. But I wasn't asking for that. The point is there is a difference between every gym being pretty easy to beat, and LPGE not letting you in unless you've caught enough pokemon and have a type advantage. Meaning you have no choice but to be in a state where you can decimate it. That isn't oh kids don't know the type chart so will struggle, that is stopping everyone before a boss and telling them you can only beat this once you are in a state where there is no chance you will lose.
The point isn't that pokemon needs to be a hardcore RPG, challenge mode would be nice but even that was just a slight bump up from very easy to you might need to pay attention. Though it is fair to criticise gamefreak for stuff like forced expshare which ruins the difficulty self imposed restrictions like nuzlockes have. I've seen many say they were happy about SM's difficulty with the exp share off. Turning it off wasn't forced on kids, didn't make the game stupidly hard but have those who wanted it a little bit more challenge. Changes like this don't make the game better for anyone.
Just saying kids are stupid doesn't justify an already easy series getting to the point where you could only fail on purpose. Kids got through every pokemon from the gameboy to the DS just fine, despite what boomers think kids aren't any dumber now. The difficulty was at a good place where a kid would maybe have to think, and other players could impose challenge on themselves. Now a kid has no opportunity to struggle, and other players are more restricted in how they can limit their ability.
