XY was well liked when it aired, while SM wasn't outside of this tiny minority of people that hated literally everything else that wasn't SM, and these people would start calling literally everyone that said anything remotely negative about SM "XYfags". It was incredibly blatant when the league rolled around and /vp/ got got spammed with constant "SM Ash is winning the league, XYfags on suicide watch" garbage constantly, while everyone that said anything about how they thought the league finals wasn't all that good a battle got bombared with "seethe more XYcuck" and whatnot.
NONE of that shit was around when XY aired. Ash making it to the league finals got him threads like "Oh shit our boy might make it", not autistic "XY Ash made it to the finals and is going to win, take that retarded DPfags" threads.
The ENTIRE "SMfags vs XYfags" shit is literally a fabrication of SMfags that can't handle the fact that the only series they like isn't held in very high regard, so they keep insisting "it's just fanboys of the previous show" over and over in the vain hope newfags like you will fall for it.
