>>40606582Unova and Kalos were literally just straight lines, Kalos can trick the mind into thinking it's a figure-8 but when you look at the actual progression for the player the two halves of Lumiose may as well be separate cities given how you never have to visit the south half. Alola does double back on itself a few times to its credit but is otherwise a straight line too, Mt. Hokulani and Po Town being the main examples.
As for Galar I think while it won't be an outright straight line the entire progression will be northwards, I don't think there'll ever be an actual point to exploring back south outside of some random thing that requires Fly in the red iron city.
