Personally, I grew up with gen 1 when I was 6-8, but my favorite gen is 3 by far, followed by 6.

Regardless, this is supposed to be an appreciation thread, so I'll say while the mon designs are hardly my favorite, I can appreciate the aesthetic differences of gen 1, even though some of those differences are extremely exaggerated or cherry-picked.

I lack imagination I had, to make up for bad graphics and limits, I can read the text now, besides everything that was to discover, is already discovered and covered by 100s of youtubers retelling the same stuff.

More like moldy bread. I grew up with it, and I’m sick of it. There are Pokémon I like in every gen. But I know they are going to be forever shunned by Game Freak, who continues to promote Charizard, Pikachu and Eevee ceaselessly.

I love both Kanto and Johto, so the past six years have been weird in that I've seen the former prioritized for forms while the latter has kind of been put aside. But eh, it is not as if most of these forms even appeal to me (just Mega Pidgeot, Alolan Vulpix and Sandhrew lines, Alolan Marowak and Giganta Butterfree), so it isn't really worth obsessing over. The modern games have bigger problems than Kanto pandering.

I hope that the upcoming anime series showcases neglected Kanto and Johto Pokemon - not just new forms. Mew will apparently shine at the very least.

I honestly believe nobody would have a problem with Kanto pandering if the games were at least good. People are blaming Kanto pandering and making it a scapegoat when it is actually the lack of challenge and content where the problem is.

I love vintage Pikachu so much. OS Pikachu was really sassy and cute. I liked when Pikachu wasn't such a goody two-shoes and was occasionally rude or mean-spirited when he wanted to be. Still a good guy, just not the soulless Lawful Good character he's been since Sinnoh/Hoenn.

Also, I used to think Pikachu was female up until Princess vs Princess. I also kind of wanted Pikachu to be a girl so I could self-insert as him better but he is what he is.

We need a rival for Pikachu in the next series. The closest one we had was Clemont's Bunnelby and even so they were friendly to each other
