It's not. I mean it would be great if other gens got the spotlight, but it's the original gen, the marketing team figures that without these core/OG Pokemon, the world might not feel like Pokemon. Fucking wrap your minds around that, it's not that big of a deal. And Kanto-pandering? Like, an NPC says the word "Kanto" once and you get a Kanto starter in XY? Like what other Kanto-pandering has there been? I guess Alolan forms were really Kanto-pandery, but I never understood the hate. All the things wrong with these games and people are still complaining about Kanto pandering...? I bet it's the same people defending SWOOSH that hate Kanto-pandering too. The lack of a region and half the characters is a-ok but you better not mention fucking K*nt* or they'll fucking lose it.

Every gen deserves it's own appreciation. Just because something happened doesn't mean you need to remind us every single minute, why about coming with something new and original? something that is not just "old thing 2 electric boogaloo". inb4 muh sinnoh, yeah whatever, pandering is still a bad thing regardless of generation. We already know Kanto was popular and amazing, but that's not an excuse to keep shoving it up into our asses.
You're supposed to move forward, not end up sinking, that's just mediocrity.

This image is the reason Kanto gets pandered so hard. It's been around in EVERY generation in some form (aside from maybe gen 5). It's the only generation that reaches every generation of fans.

GO has less pandering than the Mainline games from Gens 6/7/8. Every spinoff from 6/7/8 (outside of Quest which is still stuck in 151) is less starstruck on Kanto

GO literally only had gen 1 pokemon in its trailers, and only had gen 1 pokemon for a long time.
Imagine if any mainline game only showed gen 1 in its trailers, and only had gen 1 pokemons for almost a year.
