Probably because it's sad that a game from 2003 can do it but not on a HD platform not hindered by a handheld screen. Battles already lack oompf, I just want a spectacle.

Games with better scaling have a lot less content than mainline games, and I kind of hate how far the camera has to zoom out just to have wailord in the camera. It's a nice touch, but ultimately not needed, and the games aren't going to be any better just because wailord is the correct size

This goes for all Pokemon. Tyranitar is smaller than its trainer. Colosseum had different options yet retained scaled. I had no issue with the camera, Dynamax Pokemon are largee than Wailord already.
